We are here to talk all things padel, but context is important, is this the best rackets club in London?
A tardis of a site, Roehampton club is the absolute business, run by the exceptional Mark Newey and squash and padel headed up by Paul Lindsay, this may be the happiest and healthiest of all the London clubs with Padel that we have been to. And we’ve been to them all.Â
No matter what time of day we have been lucky enough to be invited there has been a mix of elite players, and top club players squeezing in some padel. The thing about Roehampton is that they have built up such a culture of performance that these padel players aren’t out here simply squeezing in some padel they are out there working out how to win, and how to improve, utilising the coaching prowess of the likes of GB player Chris Salisbury.Â
Is it paying off? Yes. Roehampton are national squash champions, they are Bath Cup Squash champions ( a competition between the London squash clubs) and they are runners up in the National Padel championships. And they are looking to grow the Padel section.Â
Roehampton introduced two padel courts, one of which is covered in 2020 and as you can see from our coverage and sponsorship of their LTA Padel tour event in July 2022 roehampton this is a fantastic arena for padel.
We all thought that canopies were there to stop the rain falling on the players, but actually as the continental players proved that day, they want to play out of the sunshine.Â
We aren’t quite sure of the membership application and waiting list at Roehampton, but if you can check it out, do.
