The Sundridge Park Club

The Sundridge Park Club had the first Padel courts in England’s country garden of Kent. This unique club was founded on a plot of former farmland bought from Sir Samuel Edward Scott owner of Sundridge Park, a 588 acre estate in the late 1800’s. The Golf club that the club is adjacent to was opened in 1901 and Sundridge Park Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club soon followed in 1908 when lawn tennis had become well established as a competitive sport.

Two squash courts were built in 1936 and in 1967 a third squash court was added. An architect and prominent committee member, Clive Button, designed and rebuilt the existing clubhouse in 1971.

The Club excelled in junior tennis with several Junior Wimbledon champion winners and in recent years the Club’s fabulous grass courts have been used for pre-Wimbledon practice.

It has maintained its ethos of helping players of all ages to play to their potential, a key factor in the club winning LTA club of the year in London and the South East in 2021. Even more impressively, a team of member volunteers run the 7 floodlit clay, 4 hard and 6 grass Tennis courts, 4 Squash courts and 2 Padel Courts.

And they have by no means gone in for Padel half-heartedly, and there is a comprehensive Padel coaching programme in place with a Spanish Padel expert and open, of course, to players of all ages and stages. What an exciting time to live in Kent if you are nearby!
